Chicago Philharmonic Violinist Injoo Choi

Injoo ChoiQ. What inspired you to pursue music as a career?

A. My early exposure to Seoul National Symphony concerts in Korea.

Q. What do you like about the Chicago Philharmonic’s ensemble approach in creating music?
A. It is inspiring to perform in this excellent orchestra, because I feel I am surrounded by wonderful musicians creating heartfelt music with such intensity and passion.

Q. What new endeavors would you like to see the Chicago Philharmonic pursue in the future?
A. I love the fact that each season has a theme with very creative programming to go with the theme. I always enjoy performing such variety of interesting programs and I really would not try to match the creative minds behind this endeavor.

Q. What are you reading at the moment?
A. I just started Michael Rabin’s America’s Virtuoso Violinist.

Q. What favorite music are you listening to?
A. Jacqueline du Pre’s Beethoven Cello Sonatas with Daniel Barenboim.

Q. What do you like to do as a hobby?
A. Watching movies with my husband.
